Department of Defence – Bushfire planning and management services
The Department of Defence manages large areas of bushland across Australia and is responsible for maintaining the ecological, cultural and heritage values of these areas, including managing threatening processes such as bushfire risk.
Ten Rivers assist Defence to manage this risk across a number of regions through developing bushfire management plans, annualised bushfire management works schedules and bushfire refuge plans.
Our bushfire ecologists complete comprehensive fuel load and ecological assessments and use scientific analysis such as digital elevation and bushfire models to develop practical recommendations to manage and reduce bushfire risk across the Defence estate.
Our team’s extensive experience managing bushfire implementation works and working with Defence gives us the ability to understand and plan the risks, coordinate and implement actions without interfering on the training requirements of Defence.
Through our extended Transfield Services’ team we also coordinate and deliver the bushfire management works including fuel reduction burns, fire break clearing and weed control ensuring operational continuity across large training areas and high value facilities.

We provide bushfire strategic advisory services to Transfield Services who delivers the bushfire management service across the shire’s 72,000 hectares of parks, reserves and roadsides.
